key parts of the parliament

The parliament is a legislative body of government. This part of the establishment has three functions representing the electorate, making laws and overseeing government.

The House of Commons is the lower house within the parliament in the UK. The house of commons is made up by an elected body of 650 members they are known as members of parliament (MPs).

The house of lords aka. the house of peers is the upper house of the parliament in the UK. They as The house of commons meet at Westminster. The members of the house of lords are appointed from peerage and is made up by Lords Spiritual and Lords Temporal. The lords spiritual are made up by 26 bishops from the Church of England.  The Lords Temporal are made up by life peers appointed by the monarch based on advice from the prime minister or the House of the lords' appointments commission.
