Kommune sammenslåing

The Norwegian government wants to merge many of the smaller municipalities into bigger ones with cities. With this many smaller municipalities they fear that they will be forgotten if a city is in charge of the distribution of resources. Such as in Vestfold where they already have started to merge municipalities into bigger ones and the ones that have been put together have so far had a close relationship, but as some local newspaper they say that the schools within the smaller municipalities have gotten a small budget than what they are used to, so they can already see the change and it has only been a couple of years. Underneath can you see the plan from 1963 in the first one to 2020, they want to go form it being 26 municipalities to it being 6, within this one county. This is also one of the richest counties, so the difference is not as big in this one as others will experience.

There are many municipalities that fight against the union of the municipalities. It has also created a bit hostility and forced pride towards one former municipality. If that municipality earned more or less than the average in that area.

Some of the political parties force their municipalities to convince the public to vote to become one municipality. All the political parties on the right want to push for the merge, but the left wing wants the public to have a say in it.
