Living the Nordic Light by snøhetta

Living the Nordic Light
- a tribute to the 100 year olds of the North
This book concicts of four people over 100 years old, who have lived all of their lives above the arctic circle.
Since 1992, the Zumtobel Group has commissioned renowned designers from the fields of architecture, graphic design or art to give artistic expression to their perception of light. The design and architecture firm Snøhetta designed this book in 2014. the book explores the effect of living in and in the absence of light. Living the northern light focuses on the relationship between the light and darkness as they go without light for over half of the year. this book consists of personal experiences and consists of portraits of the interview objects.

The book is perfect bound from what I can see, and that adds to the simple design of the book as a whole.
the simple clean embossed cover is effective to communicate the idea of light. this is showcased in the idea that the title would only be shown when there is a light to cast a shadow, or you can feel it but not see it in the right light.

The book consists of manages both full bleed and within grids.
