Making the flag renditions

The first design idea is based on the media campaign put in place in the early two thousands. Using the local newspapers from my “hometown” as it was the only local newspapers that I could get a hold of i made a long line  of the spreads as to represent the length of Tommy tees time in th spotlight as ha is still partially in the spot light over 20 years later. Using ink I have splattered the newspaper as to represent the Harriett that the media campaign tried to prohibit in amongst other things. I tried to mix the colours as closely to the screen print colours as to keep a cohesive design.

Another idea that I tried out was a more rough collage, within the collage I have tried to censor the faces as to keep some of the anonymous culture of the early rap groups. The only “whole” page within the design is the public collums with in the news paper, where the public that talk about the current state of their community. This page is the only one realistically readable as it was the public that had the biggest issue with the rap culture.with this design I was inspired by Jack Milroys work with newspaper collages or anagraphs as he called it.
This design is a huge piece of the newspaper folded to become a origami pig, this is based on Tommy Rees never ending problem with the police, and his tendency to start fights with cops. This flag design is also a reference to the waffle and pig design.

This design is inspired by Jack Milroys «The queen, a countess and a waterfall from 1980. But instead of using a painting I have used newspaper, and instead of making a waterfall I have made a mountain range in honour of the Norwegian nature as to show the layered way of the culture
