folding

In terms of folding there was this article about this folding technique proposed in 1989 by astrophysicist Koryo Miura as a method to fold solar arrays for satellites. This way of folding has only two stages either fully open or closed, in order to open it you pull in opposing corners and it unfolds. This way it is easy to refold by just letting it move the way it naturally wants to move. this way of folding will allow you to fold large pieces of paper into pocket size.

The folding technique also creates an interesting texture for when it is photographed

In reference to the study done by Koryo Mura where the technique used on elements within space science is the ideal way of folding a map as you only have to pull two opposing corners in order to open it to its full length. The final folding is no bigger than a wallet and is early portable. This is quite a feat as the poster is A2 sized.
