Chosen songs and why

Taking ova by Tommy Tee

if you go back to 1998, the biggest moment within Norwegian rap occurred. There are few to none performances that have shown this up afterward. This performance happened during the 1998s Hitawards show in Oslo. Gaffa has even gone as far to suggest that this might be the biggest song within Norwegian rap in 2013.

Fy faen by Hakeem & Temur

In 2017 Hkeem and Temurs performed the song “Fy faen” in front of thousands of people in Norway current most popular chart concert VG lista. This does not mesure up to Taking ova, but Hakeem and Temur went from not being known to being on top of the charts within a year.

In the decision of the songs, there was either the first popular song or the biggest performance at the beginning of the genre, in the end, the link to Hakeem and Temurs song was more prominent with this song, taking ova is also more along the lines of the Norwegian rap. In the 90s it was not normal to rap in Norwegian rap, so there is still quite the different vibe.  The other choice was A-team which is credited to be the inspiration of Norwegian rap.

Link to the song as there is nothing on youtube.

In the 2000s there was almost an end to Norwegian rap, in the public eye, but there was a pair of guys rekindled the fire, that duo was Karpe Diem. They started rapping in Norwegian and that interested a different audience it became more mainstream in the media. But in the end, it had to have some sort of link to the other song in my mind.
