in reference to the shot sign, the idea is based around showcasing a tiny bit of an image underneath the final one would be laser cut. The book could contain several smaller books and be more of a collection.
letterpress
this book would be perfect bound and have the front been made with letterpress. the issue with this is that I could not possibly be made in full using letterpress as there are no æøå letters in the set or as part of the ornaments in the letterpress room. there is also no degree sign so it just feels a bit off.
laser cut
this idea is based on working around the letterpress problem as the laser cutter can cut out anything including Norwegian letters. The typeface is kept simple to reference the Scandinavian design aesthetic and the type found on the signs. This design would play on the anonymous idea of it as there is limited information to be found about Folehava and the fact that it has a prohibition of photography between 1941 and 1995.
hardback
This
embossed
the idea for the embossed book came from some research into the topography of Folehavna. The embossing showcases the levels on the outside and on the inside, you can see the details from the stencil. In order to do this technique, I would need to use a textures paper and ideally make my own. The ripped edge of the paper showcases the rural nature of my place.
back to back
Dos-à-dos binding
as the theme of the book is to showcase the history of Folehavna whilst showcasing the beautiful hiking trail that it is a part of. Where one of the sides would be redacted so you can't read about history only the good and commercial side of it, whilst the other side would focus on archive pictures and the full story. this binging makes the most sense as it would easely showcase the whole idea.
